(Almost) Wordless Wednesday: Snack Time!

Our 33-month-old is (by and large) an awesome eater. Here's a snack plate I served up the other day including peaches, cucumber, pecans, kale chips and a few honey nut cheerios as a treat, and she devoured the whole thing in minutes! People are constantly amazed at how much she can eat, and how quickly. :)

What types of snacks do your kids enjoy? Are they willing to eat many types of foods or are they on the picky side?

  1. My daughter is a big eater too! It amazes me since she is so tiny.

    1. Our daughter is tiny too! Where do they hide it? Hollow legs? :)

  2. That is a yummy snack plate! My boys are such dainty eaters; it always blows my mind how little they eat compared to other kids. Fortunately it doesn't seem to slow them down at all!

    1. Children seem to be quite resilient! There are some very picky eaters in my family and circle of friends, and they're super-active too!

  3. my oldest is a little more leary about what he likes, but I wouldn't call him picky - it just takes him a little while to warm up to things. My youngest will eat almost anything put in front of him -

    1. Funny how two children from the same family can be so different!

    1. Thanks! And yes, my daughter would eat fruit literally non-stop - we have to cut her off sometimes. :)

  5. Great selection of food! Just be careful that she doesn't get into the habit of eating everything quickly; it's better to eat slowly. We have to remind my 8 year old to slow down because she eats so fast her brain doesn't have a chance to realize she's full before she's asking for more food.

    1. Totally agree. S will do this with oatmeal in particular. We make her take a breather after the first bowl so she can see if she's truly still hungry before devouring a second! We also often have to remind her not to stuff too much in her mouth at once!

  7. Your wee one sounds like mine! She loves kale chips, seaweed/nori, cucumber, zucchini, broccoli (basically anything green) and any kind of fruit. She loves eating a rainbow!

  9. I am OFFICIALLY jealous! It takes a village to get my 2 year old to eat. But I think you did something very smart - you made the plate COLORFUL and fun! I'd eat all of that too, if my plate looked as pretty! That's it - I'm "beautifying" my toddler's plate first thing tomorrow. x

  10. Our three year old is, overall, a pretty good eater. She goes through phases but that's pretty typical. She is pretty good at trying new things. Her current favorite food is lobster...

  11. Looks yummy! My guy will eat more than me sometimes. He's not tiny for his age, he's pretty average height and quite stocky, but man, I don't know how his wee belly fits it all in there. It's actually kinda entertaining to watch his belly expand as he eats-sometimes he ends up with it touching the table! So far, he is not picky, though some days he will certainly decide that something he loved yesterday, is not permitted near his plate today (I think it's a two year old thing). He eats most stuff-curry, seafood, fish, meat, veggies, pasta, lentils, chickpeas (a current favourite), and tons and tons of fruit. It we let him, he'd just eat fruit all day long! I'm hoping that this adventurous eating doesn't stop-DH and I love to cook and eat all kinds of stuff. If our kiddos just ate buttered noodles (like some kids I know) we'd be bummed. I'm hoping my little one due in January will be as good an eater as her big brother :)

    1. Awesome - I hope this lasts for you! Our daughter has very recently become quite picky. We're hoping it's just a phase and we'll have our little foodie back again soon!
